BMW coding costs: the honest price list

What BMW coding and chiptuning cost in Switzerland in 2025 — flat prices, no hidden costs, and what you should not pay for.

By DQcoding (Inhaber & Technikleitung) · 8 min read · updated 18 August 2026

Coding prices in Switzerland vary more than the work itself: from CHF 89 flat to CHF 150 per hour. The difference is usually not quality but billing. This page shows the prices that actually apply at DQcoding — flat, including VIN check and consultation.

The flat prices at a glance

Mirror fold-in CHF 89, video in motion CHF 119, activation packages from CHF 149, FSC activations CHF 349. Coding per vehicle (several functions combined) from CHF 199. The price is fixed when the offer is made — nothing is added later, no travel costs, no hourly billing.

ServicePriceDuration
Mirror fold-in CHF 89~20 min
Video in motion CHF 119~30 min
Activation package (3+ functions) from CHF 149~1 h
Full coding per vehicle from CHF 199~2 h
CarPlay / map FSC CHF 349~15 min
Chiptuning (Stage 1) from CHF 499~2 h

What is included in the price

VIN check, consultation, implementation and aftercare are always included — for remote and on-site at the same price. You do not pay extra for the diagnosis, for a second attempt, or for the documentation. If a function cannot be activated on your vehicle, we tell you before we start and the price is void.

  • VIN check included — no "maybe" offers
  • Remote and on-site at the same flat price
  • No hourly billing, no travel costs
  • Free re-check within 14 days

What you should not pay for: a "diagnosis fee" before the offer, surcharges for foreign vehicles, or a higher price for the same work because your car is newer. All of that is included with us — the offer is final. Compare the complete price list and the services overview.

Price examples by model series

Costs depend more on the head unit and control units than on the vehicle price. An F30 from 2015 is in the same range for most codings as a G20 from 2020 — provided the hardware is present. What matters is generation, software level and function scope, not the age of the car.

What drives the price up

Three things drive the price up: retrofit hardware on older systems, additional diagnosis for pre-existing faults, and tuning with hardware conversion. Pure activations cost similarly across providers when the hardware is the same — anyone charging significantly more is usually selling effort rather than results.

  • Retrofit hardware (CIC/NBT): parts and installation drive the price
  • Diagnosis of pre-existing faults: fault finding costs time before coding
  • Chip tuning with hardware (Stage 2): individual depending on conversion
  • Pure activations: similar in price when hardware is the same

The price comparison that pays off

Always compare offers on the same basis: same scope, same VIN check, same documentation. A low price without a check is no bargain if a wrong FSC or a half-finished job remains afterwards. Ask specifically: what is included, what happens if something goes wrong, and what does restoration cost? The answers decide the real price — not the first number in the ad.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What does BMW coding cost?

Most coding jobs are flat rates between CHF 89 and CHF 249: mirror fold-in CHF 89, video in motion CHF 119, full activation packages from CHF 149. Only the FSC activations (CarPlay, maps) are CHF 349. You see the final price before we start — no hourly billing.

Why are there price differences between providers?

Because many providers invoice per hour or add travel costs. We work with flat prices: the price on the offer is the price you pay. VIN check and consultation are free, remote and on-site cost the same.

Is expensive coding better?

No. What matters is whether the workshop knows the exact equipment of your vehicle. A wrong FSC or a wrong variant table is written off — with us the VIN check is always included, which is exactly why the flat price holds.
